Service calls us to use our time, talents, and resources to help others and build up the Body of Christ. Rooted in the Church’s teaching on charity, works of mercy, and love of neighbor (CCC 2447–2449, 1829), it is lived through acts of generosity, volunteerism, and support of parish and community needs, reflecting God’s love in action.

Parish

Clean the Adoration Chapel once a year on Holy Saturday. The bathroom outside of the Adoration Chapel would also be included in this service and should be cleaned routinely. Volunteers may contact the Rectory.

Take pride in keeping the beautiful, fresh flower arrangements alive from week to week and move floral arrangements into aesthetically pleasing locations throughout the church.

The church undergoes a beautiful transformation from Advent to Christmas! Get involved or take the lead in organizing the putting up and/or taking down of decorations. Many hands make light work! Lots of volunteers are needed to set up and tear down Chrstmas decor and transport into storage.

Church cleaning occurs once a month and takes a few hours, at most. Volunteers interested in this service may contact the Rectory.

Our parish has several councils and committees for parishioners to serve on as active leaders. They include the Finance Council, School Council, Stewardship Council, Communications Committee, Facilities Committee, and Prayer & Formation Committee. If interested in serving on a council or committee, please contact the Rectory.

Includes everything from maintenance work to mowing, leaf removal, edging, flower bed and landscape care, and snow removal. Maintenance volunteers run on an alternating schedule and are managed by the Facilities Committeel. Volunteers are always welcome!

Appointed by the pastor as an advisory council to help establish pastoral priorities for the parish. These parishioners chair additional committees and councils. For more on Parish Leadership, click here.

Visit homebound, hospital, nursing homes to brighten those who are sick, ill, or living in a facility. Contact the Rectory for more information.

School

St. Patrick Catholic School holds an annual dinner & auction as it’s primary fundraising event in the fall. Preparations begin about six months in advance with monthly meetings and increase to weekly meetings a few months in ahead of the event. There are many sub-commitees that require a lead chairperson. Many parish and school volunteers are also needed the week of the event to set up and decorate, as well as the night of the event to bartend, serve, sell raffles, and run the check-in/check-out table. School families are required to participate as volunteers and many parishioners pitch in to help the night be as seamless as possible.

All St. Patrick Catholic School parents are a part of our Booster Club and work as volunteers staffing the concessions stand and gate at home middle school athletic activities. Booster Club chairpersons work alongside the Athletic Director to coordinate parent volunteer support when hosting school sporting events. Chairs stock concessions and assist with treasury of funds by collecting Booster Club Sponsors, obtaining petty cash, and paying officials at sporting events. An Athletic Banquet is held at the end of the year for our middle school athletes.

A few food drives are held through our school throughout the year. Items collected are donated to those in need.

Perform a variety of tasks from tutoring to office work, lunch room monitor, recess monitor, chaperones, bus driver, coach, kitchen helper, or library volunteer. VIRTUS training is required prior to volunteering in our school. Contact the School Office for more information.

Community

Evangelize to those who are incarcerated but still need to know about the love of Jesus Christ.  You will have the opportunity to be a witness of your faith and a mentor for those you are ministering to.  Those currently involved visit the prison in Oswego weekly and provide a time for Bible study, prayer, reflection, etc.  Once a month, Father celebrates the Holy Mass with them, as well.

Stand up for the most vulnerable - the unborn - by getting involved in the prolife movement. There are several activities scheduled throughout the year including Life Chain Sunday, the Baby Bottle Campaign, 40 Days for Life, March for Life, Adopt-a-Mom Christamas Tree, and weekly Lenten activiites/retreats.

Helps those with disabilities be actively involved in parish life. A weeklong spiritual experience is held each summer for those with disabilities by the Diocese. Campers enjoy a week of prayer, Mass, Reconciliation, lessons, music, games, etc. while making friends and enjoying fellowship.

One of the oldest and most successful charitable organizations in the world, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a Catholic lay organization of approximately 700,000 men and women throughout the world who volunteer to seek out and provide person-to-person aid. The charity works closely with other charitable organizations to provide assistance to transients and those affected by disasters or otherwise in need. Money from sales go back to the community. The SVDP thrift store in Parsons is open six days a week and operated entirely by volunteers.

Deliver a nutritious meal with a warm smile while providing a safety check for seniors who continue to live independently in their homes.
